Sofia Airport → Sunny Beach
Bulgaria's largest and liveliest beach resort
About Sunny Beach
Sunny Beach (Slanchev Bryag) is the biggest seaside resort on the Bulgarian coast, stretching along 8 kilometres of wide, gently sloping golden sand. It grew rapidly from the 1960s onward into a dense strip of hotels, water parks, restaurants and beach bars, and today it's the country's most visited holiday destination, drawing families, groups of friends and package tourists from across Europe. The resort essentially never sleeps in July and August, with the beach promenade, aqua parks and open-air clubs running well into the night.
Beyond the beach itself, Sunny Beach makes a convenient base for exploring the rest of the southern coast: the UNESCO-listed old town of Nessebar is a five-minute drive away, Burgas with its sea gardens is under an hour south, and the Balkan Mountains foothills are within easy reach for a change of scenery. Most hotels are within walking distance of the sand, so once you arrive by transfer you rarely need a car for the rest of the stay.
