Family-friendly beaches on the southern coast
About Primorsko
Primorsko sits on a small headland between two river estuaries, giving it some of the widest and gentlest-sloping beaches on the southern Black Sea coast — ideal for young children, and a big part of why the town has long been popular with Bulgarian families rather than international package tourism. The pace here is noticeably slower than Sunny Beach or Golden Sands: low-rise hotels, a relaxed promenade, and a town centre that still feels like a real Bulgarian seaside town.
Just south of Primorsko, the Ropotamo Nature Reserve protects one of the last untouched river-mouth wetlands on the coast, with boat trips through reed beds and water-lily-covered channels that feel a world away from any resort. The wilder beaches of Arkutino and the pretty village of Kiten are also within easy reach for a change of scene.
